I’m Launching a Personal Blog Series
I am thrilled to announce the launch of my personal blog and website. This has been a bucket list item of mine for several months. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and stay at home orders, I’ve finally had the time to see it through. The fact that you are even reading this means so much to me.
Understandably, I know there may be a number of people wondering “why bother”. Why take time out of your day to document your experiences, opinions, and ideas. Why not use your free time for something more fun like meeting up with friends and family, watching Netflix, or going on vacations. Currently, my readership is low and there’s no monetary reward for this work, so why bother?
People with this mindset are not necessarily wrong. I do value my social life and enjoy new experiences, but this paints an incomplete picture for me. I believe that every person is unique. What satisfies one may not satisfy all. Introverts, for example, may find happiness in being alone with their favorite books, while entertainers may feel incomplete without a crowd of adoring fans. Personally, my fulfillment comes from self-improvement and the freedom to explore creative outlets. With this said, I am most excited to start blogging for 3 reasons.
I have a lot of experiences to share.
Since the birth of my personal blog idea, I’ve fantasized about all of the experiences I have to share. Prepare to read stories about entrepreneurship, like how I transformed a childhood hobby into a successful side business. I’ll openly talk about my belief systems, personal milestones, and additional topics I’m passionate about like fitness, travel, and mental health. I also plan to use this platform as a creative outlet for future personal projects.
I want to improve my content creation skills.
I am a firm believer of the 10,000-hour rule, or the idea that “practice makes perfect.” For those who are not already familiar, it implies that mastery in a specific craft, is only achieved after 10,000 hours worth of practice. I don’t know if I will ever hit that 10,000 hour mark, but I know I’ll be a better writer tomorrow if I start today.
I want to own my work.
As a young artist, I’ve enjoyed the perks of creative freedom. However, as I grew older, I began to understand that modern art is often tied to an agenda. Commercials influence you to purchase a product while political campaign pieces continuously try to sway your vote. Ultimately, I want to step away from this environment to create whatever I want and distribute my work on a platform that I control, with no strings attached. Shamelessly, I also wanted to reserve the URL, BrianQuinnJr.com.
